Play therapy: Effective psychotherapy for children
Welcome! Children in emotional distress often experience difficult feelings and exhibit troubling behaviors. Adults are able to process their needs in talk therapy, but it is developmentally appropriate for children to use the symbolic language of play to express themselves. At Beautiful Child, registered play therapist Catherine Meiburg fosters a safe, trusting relationship that helps children to express what is troubling them, and to develop more adaptive behaviors and more positive feelings about themselves and others. Toys, games, and creative activities are specifically selected to facilitate emotional expression and creative problem solving. Children find ways to cope with difficult emotions, discover solutions to problems, increase self-confidence, develop effective social skills, and build trust in life and in those around them.

In play therapy, children change the ways they think and feel about their problems. Even the most troubling issues can be confronted in play therapy, and lasting resolutions can be discovered.
